Dear Mahendra, There is no procedure as such to start a proprietary concern, certain procedures like applying for the trade license, registration with labour department, incase, P F is applicable then registration of the firm with the PF department etc...have to be taken care of. Other things which require attention are registration with sales tax in case if you are selling software developed at your place or registration with Service tax ifg you are offering technical consultancy etc... apart from them you can also apply for STPI but unfortunately the STPI scheme will end in 2009-10, hence you can go for SEZ(but it is a costly affair, but you can benefit from taxes viz. income tax, excise duty and customs and sales tax).
