Suggestion on Land purchase in orissa

Hi Experts, I am planning to purchase a land.The land owner has cast mentioned as "Christian(General)" in his both registry and mutation paper. I am from general cast. So, is it right to purchase that land? In orissa Christian are considered as a SC/ST. There won't be any problem during mutation filing. Your views are highly appreciated. Amit
