What are the implications if my financial situation makes me unable to pay the interim maintenance. In past, I have taken loan to pay maintenance and situation is getting difficult.

You may apprise the court about your financial condition, but otherwise you wont be able to run from your legal liabilities.
The law provided sufficient measures in this regard to protect the interest of the claimant.

I understand that part but what are the implications if I am unable to pay say for 3-4 months
