Moscow, April 29: Russian President Dmitry Med-vedev has put his seal on a law that virtually imposes night curfew on minors, barring them from leaving homes alone during late hours.
Mr Medvedev signed into law the bill that bans minors from leaving homes or boarding schools from 10.00 pm to 6.00 unaccompanied by an adult guardian, Kremlin press office said.
The law adopted as an amendment to the child protection legislation gives regional authorities power to bar presence of minors in some public places, including streets, stadiums, parks, public transport and Internet cafes in night hours.
The law, which is expected to come into force after its publication in Rossiskaya Gazeta government daily, will also ban children under 18 from visiting night clubs, bars, restaurants and other places which sell alcohol, as well as s*x shop.
The bill, earlier cleared by two houses of the Federal Assembly, lays down that parents of minors violating it will be heavily fined.
