Dear Sir,
I am engaged to a girl who is employed in a private engineering college for last 4 years and is a reputed faculty of the institute. Just because of jealousy one fellow teacher in her college spread the rumor about her that she is done court marriage and the boy he is married to is a normal roadside vendor etc. She came to know about the issue through her fellow teachers and they told her that the chairman of the college has told them this story. Now it is becoming hard for her to work there as all the students are gossiping about this story and the respect she had earned throughout her career has now all gone. Can I or she file the defamation case against the college staff for spoiling her name. Can this case be pursued as promoting unethical atmosphere against women at workplace.
