Discrepancy in leave policy of private firm

An indian public conglomerate company(in top 3 FMCG) has very absurd leave policy which does not seem legitimate.

as per the policy, whenever leave of absense is applied, if weekend is clubbed between the leave dates then the weekend is counted in the number of days of leave taken.

for example; weekend will be condsidered in the number of days of absentee in the following scenarios

1.leave applied(1 day applied) on friday or monday will have a weekend attached(total 3(Friday/Monday+saturday+sunday) days leave counted)

2.leave applied(2 days applied) on friday and coming monday.(total 4(Friday+saturday+sunday+Monday) days leave counted)

Is this legitimate in context of the india labour and service laws.Expert comments are much appreciated.

if you are taking leave on friday as well as on monday then the saturday and sunday would be counted as leave only. if you are on leave on friday and present on monday or vice a versa then saturday and sunday will be a paid holiday.

Mr. Rohit Dalmia, I dont know from which Law School you graduated. But I am sure it must be some C grade institutute as you don't know the various High Court rulings and also the landmark SC ruling which nullified such practices of employers who count week offs as leaves if the employee takes a leave just before or after the weekend. Just check back your facts and dont pass misinformation. I think you are an agent of Companies, therefore you are passing wrong information to general public to turn their moral down and to stop them raising their voice against such mal practices beng carried out by private sector companies.

Might I ask if their is any govt. regulatory body which monitors and could take action against such practices.
