Discrepancy in mother's surname

Dear Experts

I had posted this query a few days back in the expert section. Since there is no response there, I am posting it here.

I want your inputs for the problem below:

My school leaving certificate has my mother 's name as her maiden name. She did not have any photo identity except her passport which is in her maiden name to submit to my school. In my birth certificate her name is her first name with my father's surname. I learnt that in the hospital when birth certificate was filled in my father filled in my mother's name with his surname. My father's passport has my mother's name with his surname( even the renewed one) and my mother holds a bank account as well as her PPF account with my father's surname-- in fact I learnt no proof of name change was asked back then and the change in her surname was readily accepted without any documentary proof.

I am now going to make my passport and I am worried that the discrepancy in my mother's surnames in two important documents of mine may cause me problems.

Is there any way out for this issue? Please let me know. I am 18 years old now and know that I need not produce my parents' passports to obtain mine. But the problem is ithat my own documents have different surnames of my mother. Please advise remedial measures, if any.

I look forward for your advice,
Charu

helloo charu,

i will suggest you to deciide with which surname you wanna go and get amend your another document from the concerned department and if still there is any problem in amendment then you can file a suit for declaration with the name of your choice and can got a decree of court in this regard.
