Dispute over a part of land to be used as public route

Recently we started the boundary construction of our plot, located back in our village and which my father bought around 10 years ago. Until now, as it came to our notice, some villagers were using our land to get across to the other side for all these years.

Now, these very villagers are demanding a route, from within our plot,  for them to be alloted exclusively to use as a pass to the other side. They even filed a complaint with the local tehsildar to allott them a route out of our plot, and also falsely accused us of driving them away.

I confirmed the route in question with the land officer there. And even he confirmed it, as per the authorised mappings in his register, to be a part of our plot.

Would be helpful, if someone can put some light on how to handle this situation.

Pls ask for the certified copy of survey sketch or map which shows the path in your land.

Please check the documents properly if there is any indication of path.

In private properties public path cannot be forcebly done. The land has to be acquired by the concerned authorities as per land acquisition act.

Please consult your lawyer with all relevant documents
