When inquest is already done, it is as good as the police have started the investigation.  any statement recorded during and in the course of investigation has no intrinsic value except for purpose corroboration and contradictions.  It is as good as any other statement recorded under Sec. 161 Cr.P.C

FIR is not considered a statement at any stage but it can be used by the defence to negate/contracdict the prosecution fiction during trial of the case.
