Forced Marriage

My cousin sister has been forced for marriage with a boy, but she don't want to marry. My uncle and auntie force her to do marriage, and they torture her physically and mentally. They say her if she don't marry with that boy they will die. She can't complain to police station. They forcefully made engagement with that boy. What can she do now to prevent this marriage?

write an application to local police. also she can seek protection order under dv act seeking residence and protection.

above is a legal solution.\

social one is and simpler practical one just tell that boy that she is being forced to marry him.

even u can complain to protection officer , and after that protection officer is liable to protect her.

"4. Information to Protection Officer and exclusion of liability of informant.-(1)

or is likely to be committed, may give information about it to the concerned Protection
Officer.
(2) No liability, civil or criminal, shall be incurred by any person for giving in good
faith of information for the purpose of sub-section (1)."

Protection officer’s role

A protection officer (PO) works under the supervision of the court. The responsibilities of the PO are Facilitating an aggrieved woman’s access to the court and assisting the court in discharging its functions.

Service providers engaged in providing services, to women are to be registered under the Act 12. By registering under this law, they attain the status of public officers

The State is to notify medical facilities and shelter homes which cannot refuse services to aggrieved women

Police are bound to provide information on this law to women approaching them with complaints of domestic violence. This is in addition to their duties to register complaints under criminal law

The court may also order the police to assist POs in discharging their functions. POs are responsible for facilitating an aggrieved woman’s access to legal aid services

intervention of either police or social worker extremly necessary here.

if the girl already engaged with someone tell him to complain before the police with some proof.

marry or not to marry - is her personal liberty under art 21 of the coi. perents have no say on it. if the parents tried to push their daghtur at die IN THE NAME OF MARRIAGE, - IT IS BETTER LET THE PARENTS DIE.

even you may complain to the police station.

if it is really a forced marriage, - police will definitely take action.

NO ,seems unlikey  its indian police, it acts in a manner that there s a byproduct of bribe. if her parents are rich and she complains they will ask her parents to shell out dogfood.
