Gift Money by cheque.

My boyfriend wants to give me a cheque of a certain amount as gift. How much amount can I receive as gift from non family members,without any tax liability. Please advise.

Previously the tax free gift   was  Rs. 50,000  in cash or in kind.

Y u worry about tax take it and enjoy if any notice comes from i.t. department then think about it for jujubi amount.

Our i.t. department is paper tiger.it leaves malya.neerav Modi etc to escape and others who r in India don't care Bout IT
