One of my friend is conducting a business and he was getting the goods from wholeseller to his shop in his private car. The traffic police stopped him en route. I understand that there is provision in the Motor Vehicles act which prohibits the use of private vehicle for "commercial purposes". The word "commercial purposes" is not defined. Is there any authority/judgment which sheds light on the definition of "commercial purposes". Is it right for the traffic police to book him for transporting the goods from whole seller to his shop for reselling which is the source of his self employment??
