Dear All,
Why do we need moral policing in a country as huge and diverse as India? Who is the Rama Sene to ban a celeberation? These hooligans, who recently beat up girls in a bar, must be taught that India is a secular, democratic state where each individual has the right to live his life the way he wants to, to be with the person he wants to, and to celeberate any occasion he wants to. It is not up to them to decide that V-Day is ruining Indian culture. V-Day is a day on which not only India, but also the entire world celeberates the essence of love. It is a celeberation of love and there is no reason to ban it! This is the 21st century and India and Indians are facing a world that is being transformed into a global village. We don't need any Sena to lay down rules on what should be celebrated and what shouldn't.Culture is a composite mixture of a lot of things. I do not support underage drinking or swingers' parties on V-Day. But I do not see the point of opposing a day that is a celebration of love, a day on which any two individuals regardless of age/caste/religion can tell their loved ones how much they love them.
Democracy is built on the freedom to move, freedom to express, and freedom to do what you believe in. If some religious fanatics want to take control of India, why have elections? The most important thing that such people never realise is that culture is dynamic, not static.
Wish all of you a very Happy Valentine's Day .......
