Hindu Muslim marriage

I a Hindu boy performed marriage ritual with a Muslim girl. We did not register the marriage under Special Marriage act yet. 1st. Is it compulsory to register to make it legal? 2nd. If I want divorce what are my options. Does inter religion marriage hold ground without registration?

The valid marriage between the persons of two different religion can only if it is solemnized/performed under the Special Marriage Act,1954 after giving one month notice to Marriage Officer by both parties to marriage and in presence of 3 witnesses. The marriage is also registered under the Act and valid marriage certificate issued to the partires which is proof of their valid marriage.

What sort of religious marriage you both performed will be completely null and void and so best go through proper solemnization and registration of marriage under the Special Marriage Act,1954.

Don't keep on asking if the whatever marriage you did till now can be registered under the Special Marriage Act,1954 because that is no marriage at all in the eye of law.
