how to compromise section 406

One of my friend taken my laptop and was not returning on time I logged an FIR with section 406 ..he has returned the laptop now.. I want to compromise the the FIR.. What will happen with the laptop.. I had spoken to a lawyer who says.. my laptop has to be produced to the court and there will be bell against my laptop.. and I will have to sign a bond ..what does it mean? why do I have to sign a bond and if my laptop price is 39,000/- then how much do I have to pay to the court? what will happen to my Laptop after that? please advice
