How to deny Election duty by a part time Lecturer

Sir, I am working as a part time Lecturer in an aided college. My post is not regular and govt is not paying my salary. Recently my principal sent my name for election duty. But I dont want to attend to the election duty due to my personal reason. Plz tell me how to deny the election duty if I have served the order. Help me sir.

election duty is strict but not inhuman. Your deptt can nominate somone else. Electoral authorities can put you on the reserve list. However denying or refusing election duty is a criminal offence. My suggestion will be not to take strings with electoral authroities. Your department has very little say to decide as to what punishment should be given for refusal of election duty. Once convicted you may keep on appealing but dismissal from service will follow the conviction.

unilateral denial of election duty can result in jail upto 24 months.
