How to lodge FIR for document lost 15yrs back

Hello,

The seller of my Flat has lost his documents 15yrs back. Then they did not lodge an FIR. The registration & stamp duty has been done on the true copy of the agreement. Now when I am buying that flat the bank is asking for a FIR.

What do the seller need to tell the police station while lodging an FIR, will it create any problems for the Seller?

Thanks in advance.

The bank is correct in asking the FIR since it so happens that the vendor may hide material facts of the loss which may include mortgaging the property by way of equitable mortgage by deposit of title deeds, hence without the copy of FIR it would be unsafe on your part too to purchase the property.
