A legal heir certificate of a deceased person may be obtained from the Tahsildar concerned. If you want a succession certificate, you have to file an application to the court concerned. The Court will issue a succession certificate.

legal heir can be obtained through eservice center and not necessary to obtain from judicial officer. consult local lawyer and act accordingly

Each state has it's own laid down procedure, in some states Tehasildar is not now giving legal heir certificates and asks the party to get it from the court. Contact a local advocate for more guidance.

Legal Heir certificates are issued by the tahsildar of the district to recognize the actual deceased person living heirs and the succession certificates are issued by the court to the deceased person legal heirs.

You can submit an application to the tehsildar office seeking legal heirship certificate declaring the legal heirs of the deceased person.
The tehsildar after obtaining reports from the revenue inspector may issue the desired certificate as per provisions of law.
