How do one report evasion of incometax? Is there any reward/risk for individuals reporting incometax fraud by organisations/individuals?

WELL whistleblower bill is not yet passed.

 

However inherent risk is to become enemy of somebody for the gain of nation, if eventually he comes to know

1How do one report evasion of incometax?

Reply: The information has to be given in writing,confidentialy, to the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) or the Director of Income Tax (investigation) of the area where the tax evader resides/does business. You may retain a photocopy of the information furnished,and a record of the name of the person to whom furnished, when & where furnished etc.

2. Is there any reward/risk for individuals reporting incometax fraud by organisations/individuals?

Yes.There is a Scheme for Reward for the Informant. The Informant can also be given an interim reward, pending the final reward which may get delayed. The information haas to be specific and detailed.
