International credit card authentication issue

Hi,

I rearly use my credit card. Biggest reason for me to keep the credit card is that, I need to take some online classes from USA for my career and education. I recnetly subscribe to a course that will charge me monthly basis and bought  antoher course that charged me one time. My concern is ... there were no final authentication before final transaction like One time password or transaction password that we are used to get with Indian systems. After submitting my card details, I just got an sms on my phone form bank that (Rs.xyz) is spent on my credit card. The amount was right though.

I have called bank's customer care several times asking about how the credit card is protected against international transactions? I guess it is quite easy for merchant to store my credit card details and easily could lead to any misuse. But they could not give me a satisfied answer. They told me that they have a system called "verified by visa" and "mastercard secure code". But that will ask for authentiation of card if only merchant's site incorporate that system in their website. And most of the USA site do not support those systems.

So what should I do now. Should I cancel the subscripttion and surrender my card Or my card is portected otherwise by any RBI rule? Please advice, I am bit worried any feedback, suggestion would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance

At  RBI website in guidelines for CC operations it is mentioned that CC company shall issue OTP.

CC company has to maintain guidelines on its website.

Instead of calling on phone prefer to write by atleast email and demand to reply by email only and not by phone.

The banks also enacourage the customers to register the Card thru link on bankwebsite with VISA/MasterCard.

If you are not satisfied, search which bank/CC suits your need and close the card after obtaining NOC from previous CC company and also demand to supply your credit report shwoing yours and bank's name against a nominal payment of say Rs 50+taxes, as per RBI guidelines.

You may decline if bank asks to obtain from CIBIL against say Rs.450+taxes.
