Joint venture with subsidiary merged company

A foreign company named XYZ had formed a subsidiary company XYZ-I. Thereafter the subsidiary company merged back with the foreign parent company. Afterwards an Indian company formed a Joint venture with XYZ-I and submitted the bid for a project work. Now my query is whether the JV formed is valid since it has already been merged with the parent company?
