can somebody explain me with example what is judgement in rem and personam.

@ Kuldeep First of all i want to exlain what is rem and personam. Rem means general and personam means specific or particular., So judgement in rem means judgement in general sense it may deal issues which are criminal in nature and which effects the society as a whole and judgement in personam means judgement relating to particular person e.g civil cases judgements. In judgements in personam the matter is related to particular individual. Hope it helps you.

in evidence act  fro sec 40 to 44 jud r explained.four kinds of courts r mentioned in that section.is there any other courts also which can give jud in rem.i think if jud do not decide abt status finally its personam otherwise its rem.

Judgement in rem has binding effect against whole the wourd. like insolvancy, divorce, probate.

Judgement in persona has binding effect against parties to the suit.
