Jurisdiction of family court

I have filed a petition u/s 125 for maintenance against my two grown up sons at the JMFC court in Nasik. The opponent lawyer has confused the matter on the issue of jurisdiction. The court feels that even though I reside outside the municipal limits of Nasik city, since the police station covering my location falls within the corporation limits, the case should be transferred to the family court. This case has even going on for five years now suddenly this issue has been raised. I am told that the above is true only in case of criminal or state cases and not family matters. Kindly guide me where exactly my jurisdiction lies with some authorities. Thanks !

Yes criminal cases can be fight only in jmfc court and 125, divorce, guardianship, etc are subject matter of family court
