As per the question raised by you, let me inform you that the Indian Penal Code (i.e. IPC) is a comprehensive code that was established with an intention to cover all substantive aspects of criminal laws. The code was drafted on the recommendations of first law commission of India established in 1834 under the Charter Act of 1833 under the Chairmanship of Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay.

IPC is often known as the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Currently, IPC consists of 576 sections including all the lasted additions and amendments.

Hope It Helps
