Legal heir

Dear Sir(s),

We hail from Vizag. For employment, we shifted to Hyd since 1999 till 2002. I lost my father in Hyderabad in 2001. I have completed his funeral in Hyd and obtained a funeral slip. I got a photocopy of the funeral slip and the original is lost.

It was my mistake - have not obtained the death certificate producing the funeral slip during that time. I tried recently and the authorities are asking for the original funeral slip - which I do not have. My father holded a ration card - which is with me mentioning all my members of the family. I hold a passport, which mentions my father's name (as Late).

Can somebody help me in understanding if there is any other way in which a legal heir can be obtained?

Thanks for all those who reply.

it can not be understood why you are that much worried about funeral slip. your father died and for proof of death you may take death certificate from corporation authorities. if your father died in hospital, the hospital people (whether govt, or private) will intimate to corporation directly as it is their responsibility. if at all your father died at home, you may make an application to corporation people they will make enquires and give you death certificate.  there is prescribed format for that. further, there is no need to have legal heir certificate for just establishing as a legal heir of a particular person.

as you have not mentioned for what purpose you need such certificate etc. i could have focused on that point. bye

Will it be possible to take the Death Certificate now? It is almost 12 years now after the death. Because I have my father's house, which I want to rennovate. I want to get the electrical connections etc transferred on to my name.

My father died in Hyderabad. Can I apply the death certificate in Vizag or Chennai? What enquiries will they make for it?
