Legal remedies?

About: Recently lost smartphone as it was stolen by theif and lodged police complaint as GD but as of now there's no communication from police for any updates related to track. Only the sim & imei number is currently blocked.

1.What are legal remedies related to stolen phone?

2.Should police inform owner about any clue or trace?

3.What should we do if police don't show much interest maybe due to older device?

You will have to wait for investigation by police.

The most you may file an application before area Magistrate to seek status of your complaint / GD.

You cannot expect an expeditious action from police in this regard.

Whenever they recover on a lot, there are chances if your phone is one among the recovered phones.

You will not get proper response even if you frequently visit the police station.

If you have insurance then on the basis of police complaint you can claim insurance claim.

Apply   through RTI and get information.

Thanks to the all advocate & legal experts for the replies.

Due to blacklisted imei it will be more easy to track it by police?

Whatever support you may give to police, until and unless the police is willing to cooperate in this matter you will not be able to recover your stolen goods.

there is no point in blaming police in this regard because they are also under pressure over many serious things.
