Marriage - sapinda query

Hi,

I have a doubt regarding Sapinda rule.

If A and B are brother and sister respectively- then can the Grand daughter of A and Grand Son of B get married?

Do they fall under Sapinda catagory?

Please answer me.

Yes. If they are own bro and sister. If cousins then exact relation is needed.

According to Hindu Marriage Act sapinda relationships are counted up to five ganerations up on the father's side and three generations up the mother's side counting the persons to get married as one. On the father's side it must be father-father -father etc. On the mother's side it is not specified. It must be mother-father-father etc as the sapinda system is patriacial.
