Mayawati's laws on 376

If the latest move by Mayawati is enforced in UP that there is no bail for rape accused till end of trial, then what happens to many people who are seeking bail on the same time??

498a is already in wide misuse. Many women to harass husbands with whom they know the marriage is breaking down put dowry case and seek huge amounts of settlement money so that the husbands family is not put behind bars.......Isnt this clear cut extortion?

If mayawati has her way then it will ensure that fake rape case will be used as a means to harass innocent men.

Yes to curb the menace there should also be a law which says that any woman who puts a false case should face twice the time in jail with no pardon. Petty fines of few thousand rupees are no use. When someone can misuse the law to put an innocent person in jail they should also get a taste of their own medicine.

I agree with u on many counts......Laws are heavily biased in favour of women beacuse of Male Dominating Society was prevailing and Laws were majorily meant to protect the women from various male and famliy domination...Post Liberalisation things has definitely changed...and this step by U.P Govt. is certainely unwarranted....

In UP there are many illegal activities, including rape..

so in order to curb these evils, this is a right step.I agree with your point but right now the present scenario looks different and Up govt.(mayavati)taking right stpes.

Right now the offences are increasing now ,there is no way left so govt. take this decision.

Sir , making it mandatory that no bail shall be granted in Rape charge till the trial gets over is certainely against the very principles of criminal jurisprudence and unconstitutional as well.

On one end the constitution clearly says that the liberty of a citizen of india is an important. And that putting an innocent person in jail can have severe psychological and economic damage on him and his family. So Mayawati should first change the constitution of india.

She is changing "Innocent till proven guilty" to " Guilty till proven innocent"

Dowry laws were brought to protect the interest of rural women. However most of these cases are being registered in metropolitan cities where women are taking lakhs as settlement. If a man can give lakhs to settle disputes why would he need dowry in first place.

Look at the police force of UP. 14 year old is found hanging dead from a tree next to a police station. It is the police force of UP which needs to be given the wake up call. MLA's and police of UP are corrupt. This move is being taken to protect the skin of the goverment. Not rape victims.
