Mcd: child maintenance

Hello Experts,

  There are currenlty discussions going on between the my wife's and my family for our seaparaction through mutual consent. We are both Hindus and both are earning almost on par...with my salary being just a notch above her. We have a 5 years old male child...whose maintenance will have to contributed by me ...which I have no issues.

Here are my queries:

1. My salary is around 60K pm and my wife's salary would be around 50K pm.

2. My wife is like a person who would keep money (provided for child maintenance) most for herself and a little for the child. How do I ensure that the money is getting properly utilized for the child only?

3. Can I instead invest it in some long term investment plan for the child that can be utilized for his higher studies once he is 18? or any other investment instrument?

In summary, my concern is that whatever money I provided...I should be assured that it is being provided for the child's welfare only.

Regards

Nuvo

Not possible to ensure this until the child turns 18.

@Manish:Thanks for your time.

@Ranee: No, I do not want to avoid any well being of the child...but my worry is that whatever maintenance is given...it is not misused by my wife for herself and spending meagre amount on the child. Do you think there is anyway we can ensure that?

One more question for experts:

How is the fair amount of maintenance for the child is calculated?

Assuming my salary is Rs. X and expenses is Rs. Y

Monthly it will be 1 lakh plus rupees.  You both have a future ie the kid.

Why waste it on lawyer fees, court hall time?

Adjust with each other for the sake of your future, ie the kid.
