Media should have good lawyers / dept / wing

21.3.17

Media (TV, Newspapers etc) should come up with material that not only give information, but serve to educate society & groom good citizens. NEWS shape things. But errors in News spoils the purpose. This report below seems to contradict:-

60-year-old woman sets herself afire

.... he rushed upstairs and found the door locked from outside. .....

CAN THIS HAPPEN?

Even otherwise, there are several other reports / items that are ambiguious, are not crystal clear, are not trendsetting etc.

Error above can be done away with good writers. But a editorial wing that has couple of efficient lawyers who are good at the language too would be better.

From the level of most reporting, print or electronic, it'd seem that reporters covering legal affairs and especially Courts proceedings are law school dropouts or those from some third-rate law school who couldn't make it to practise or even to in-house legal. Then there are those other animals who start reporting in some other branch, come across the in-house Counsels in come Court case for a while, and start to have illusions of grandeur thinking of themselves as reporters first and that they now know all there is to know about law, from 'experience'.

The irony is dimensions keep getting added & no one can be master in all aspects. Let all who want a good order in society be accomodated, groomed, helped.

The media needs variety as also reliable, quality items. A set of guidelines, say something like 'How to' & then proof reading their contributions by 2/3 seniors (In this case lawyers) might enable new, accurate, credible, educative news.
