Media should'nt telecast, print the stories of common man

It is often noticed that people having good social contacts with people working in media use media to their advantage telecasting news about people (common men and women) and their personal affairs, mainly marital.  Media generally telecasts news about big shots because they are renowned, nobody telecasts or prints news about common man when his mother, father dies or he gets married.  That being the case what right Media has to telecast or print news about common man when it involves some commotion in his personal/marital affairs?  The Media should take interest in the personal affairs of a person about whom it habitually and regularly prints or telecasts news.  Otherwise it will appear like "paid news" to the reader. Sometimes news is telecast live showing the people making allegations on Television before even the Trial starts in Court.  Before the court starts considering the merits, the media already projects somebody guilty in the eyes of society.  Does it make any sense for the reader of any newspaper/viewer of Television to know some X, Y or Z living in some locality called A, B or C had harrassed his wife and his wife filed 498A against him in such and such PS?  Thousands of such cases are filed in Police Stations across the country why only about some X or Y or Z the news is telecast or print?

If it is to report any good about common man it is perfectly OK.  But every attempt to project a common man in bad light should be avoided even if it is a fact because it will be viewed as "paid news" or done with an intention to malign him. I had seen in TV9 (Telugu newschannel) a show called Dishum Dishum in which the Media is openly showing some people being beaten badly in front of cameras and people.  Moreover they are using some funny background music and comments to make it interesting for viewer.  The job of Media is to report news not to make it attractive and sell news.
