It depends upon the religion, your friend belongs to as Bigamy is legal in the Islam religion but not in Hinduism. However, your friend might be committing a criminal offence if he has committed any wrongful act with the girl. It also depends on his intention to marry that girl. if not, he can be held criminally liable for assaulting her and many other charges can be put on him.
