If your wife is working and earns income sufficient for her maintenance then legally you are not required to provide her alimony but your kid is very well entitled.
It is your facility to see whether you can provide it lupsum or are capable to pay only per month.

She is eligible for Monthly till the time she gets re-married . Probably she already found a next match hence asking for lumpsum..
Game is wait and watch for 2-3 years and let her be in little hurry , then do a proper negotiation :-)
