Mva case

A driver was caught over speeding on a road where the speed limit was 80 Km/h (Driver was driving at 90). After the Police stopped the vehicle, the driver cooperated with the Police Officers, produced all the required documents, and even volunteered to pay the challan (Rupees 2,000). But even after the payment of challan amount, the Police Officer seized the Driving License of the driver without any probable reason and asked the driver to collect it from the RTO after 20 days. Is the Police Officer authorized to do so?? Or has he violated his status and powers??

A Traffic Surgeon cannot forcefully tow out of an ignited vehicle especially if someone is sitting inside. Apart there has to be challans or receipt copy of the seized vehicle given to the driver. If you are harassed, file a complain before the nearest police station. Apart the Traffic Surgeon can seize vehicle if the speed was over and in that case better to apply for its release.
