Need general poa to fight rcr case from abroad to india

Hello -

I am an NRI fighting RCR case filed by wife. My lawyer suggested to prepare general power of attorney document during the time I am unable to make it to the court. But preparing General POA from abroad requires notarized signatures from embassy, which I don't have nearby. Nor do I know any attorney abroad.

Questions:

1. Will a notarized document from bank or post office from abroad sent to India work?

2. If I visit India, can I prepare general POA during that time and submit it in a day, instead of preparing abroad?

Thanks!

1. For the POA, notarized document from bank or post office will not suffice.

2.  Yes, you can prepare it during your visit to India.

Thank you.

So the best option is to go to India and set up GPA there itself. Can an NRI do that? Or, the only option is to get signature from embassy?

thanks.

You can prepare a GPA during your visit here. Should not be a problem.

General POA from abroad should either be attested by the Indian Consulate/High Commission or by the Notary Public available in the foreign country. The Notarised POA will require the Apostile stamping.
