Neighbour

I have a small piece of land (22 decimals) at  Madhepura District in Bihar.  There are 03 units of houses on this land.  This land is surrounded  by a 6feet high boundary wall since 1971. The land was also purchased in 1971 by my late father. My neighbour on the southern side of my land is not letting me repair  the boundary wall since 2010.( My neighbours' father  purchased the  land in 1972 from the same landlord.)  This boundary wall was built by us. He shares this boundary with us.  He has recently  constructed a tall gate at the entrance of his campus and one of the beams of the gate is not just above our boundary wall (southern side) and but it also protrudes a distance of about 04 feet within our campus. Now he claims that we have encroached his land and we should shift our southern boundary wall by 4 feet towards north. He is not ready to use legal means to prove his point rather he is using brute force and illegal means (threatening) to capture a part of my vacant  land. Surprisingly, my neighbour is a lawyer and deals with land related cases at local district court. I do not stay at my house as i am employed at Dhanbad (Jharkhand) . My neighbour stays at Madhepura. My entire campus is on rent. One school is running in my campus.

Pl. advise me what should I do?

Try to amicable settlement, if not made a panchayat with the local elders.
