Notice buyout

I joined a new company after leaving my old one by paying them my notice period buyout

The new one told me they'll pay back the notice buyout whatever I'll be paying to the previous employers but it has been 4 months now and no payment initiation has been done and when ever I ask for it .The don't give any particular reasons they just drift away from the topic.

I have their pay back confirmation on my mail sent from their hr department before my offer acceptance.

Kindly help by telling me if I can go a legal route for this

The Employer is bound to honour their commitment. Hoowever, seeking legal remedy could adversely affect employer - employee relationship. The preferable option is to settle the issue amicably.

You may send a letter in writing requesting your employer for making the payment on the basis of their commitment made through email.
