Notice period issue

Dear Sir,

I was working with in a bank and as per the appointment letter I was supposed to serve 3 months notice period after my resignation. I had served 9 days notice period and than left the bank and joined other organization. My resignation was accepted by my boss and I had mentioned my last working date in the same. Now after 1 and half years I have got one notice from previous employer regarding notice period recovery. As per the notice I have to pay my notice period due and if I fails to do so they will take necessary action against me. Request your guidance regarding this issue that what action they can take against me if I do not pay? Can they file a legal case against me?

Please advice.

In concurrence to the terms of your appointment you may submit the notice pay for shortfall in notice period @ as expressed and accepted in your appointment letter. Your manager helped you by accepting the notice with effective date of resignation. Bank has not waived off the notice pay.

The notice must have been issued by the legal cell. Bank can file legal case.

Your resignation having accepted with the last date of working, no action can lie against you, especially after such a time lapse. If the Manager has accepted with notings, subject to the notice period service, may be the Company will stand a better chance.
