Obtaining a death certificate

Dear All, kindly advise me the steps to obtain a death certificate in chennai, for my granny who has died in 1991, Due to some personal problems my granny has left the family and lived seperately, we dont have any documents like ration card or voter ID for her, right now we need to file a case against a property we need the death certificate but when we searched in the corporation website we didn't find the details of my granny in that particular date, so please advice me in this.

I really don't know how municipal corporation works in Chennai. However for obtaining my relatives death certificate I had to go MCD office in my local area where I filled up a form and submitted it. I was given a date to come on and after going on same date I was given death certificate at cost of 10 rs per certificate.

Hi Karthick

As far as death certificate is concerned it is advisable to you to meet councillor of your ward where your granny used to stay..He will issue orders to the officer concerned for the issuace of death certificate..
