Party delaying possession

Dear Forum, I have purchased one property in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 21st June 2018 (Date of sale deed registration). Party promised to give possession after few days due to some personal problem. Same was accepted by me. Now party is delaying the possession every time by asking for two or three more days. It is written in the sale deed that possession is handed over and full payment has been made. Now my query is 1) Can i ask police to help me get the possession of the said premises? 2) Or I have to file a court case? 3) If I have to file a court case, how long it may take to get the possession. Plus can I demand for compensation or interest on my paid amount as I had to suffer. Please clear my doubts urgently. Thanking you all.
