Dear member, Please guide what happen if someone by mistake misses to disclose details of Pending Criminal Case in his Passport application. However, the case details are disclosed by the applicant to the police during Police verification process. Visit to Passport Sewa Kendra has already been made and the file stands escalated to Regional Passport Office. What are remedial measures now.

When a criminal case is pending, passport cannot be issued in my view.

As per the passport act, if any criminal case is pending against anyone s/he can get only a Short Validity Passport. Short Validity Passport is valid for maximum One year and has to be renewed every year till court cases last.

Whether by mistake or by oversight each and every wrong information is taken as offense, not only the passport can be rejected, the applicant has to pay huge fines before applying for fresh/renewal.
