Passport impounded

passport was impounded yesterday .at chennai immigration. no reason or explanation given. detained and thrown out with baggage. no enquiry. not permitted to call lawyer. given at notice to collect passport at passport office. notice not addressed to passport officer,but "to whomsoever it may concern. shouldnt i be given a notice ? and time, or speak up for mysely. i"m only a tourist with a tourist visa to japan. couldnt i be permitted to board the flight and on return ,say 15 adys later be askedto ,meet the passport officer ? what is the urgency to prevent me from boarding the flight. i am a senior citizen. and a tour lader for 32 members who had come to chennai airport from 3 different states. and only I could communicte with them in 3 different languages and also english. now what are the steps to trace and retrieve my passport. in chennai there are 3 big passport offices.
