Petty case

Recently i happened to cross railway track at a station in a hurry.then two police men standing over the platform asked my contact deatils.Finally they told me that iam charged with  a petty case.it was not RPF perssonals.state goverment police personals.How can they charge case for track crossing....?? this offence comes under indian railway act..??...iam confused please answer..?

They are meant for maintaining safety of passengers as well as railways.  You have committed an offence but argue on it with your own justification, if you are damn sure of the laws, you could have challenged them by refusing to pay the penalty.

Since the offence comes under the Railway Act, the Railway Protection Force alone is having Jurisdiction. Police has no power.

thanks for the answer, madam.actullay.I think these cops were trying to complete their monthly quota of petty cases.
