plead guilty before trials

For example in an accident case like IPC 338, once chargesheet is read before the accused, he pleaded not guilty and want to defend the case. But because of too many months the case is taking, can he decide to plead the guilty before the start of trails and close the case? if he can what are the consequences?

The Government has finally provided in Section 265A - 265L11 of CrPC for raising Plea bargaining in certain types of criminal cases. If the accused has pleaded guilty, an appropriate sentence is required to be implemented. Mere admission of guilt is not a ground for the reduction of sentence.
