Poa from nri - adjudication

HI All,

I have 2 POA

1. From me and wife to my FIL (Father-In-Law) this is General POA for allowing him to rent and maintain our mentioned property in POA. It was signed in front of Indian Consulate in NY and sent to my FIL. As I know next steps are

a. POA should be Stamped-Franked

b. POA should be adjudicated at Registrar office.

my question around this one is.. who can do adjudication of NRI General POA in Maharashtra? one of the lawyer said both parties must be present in front of registrar and that does not seems logical. And also want to know if above steps are correct? Appreciate expert /detailed response from legal gurus on this forum.

what should be the cost to register/adjudication this POA?

2. POA to purchase/sell to my Mother (within Family). Same questions for this one as well.

Hi Praveen

You are very correct in the step for giving a valid executable POA of NRI.

The local sub registrar in whose jurisdiction the property situate would stamp and adjudicate the POA in the presence of the attorney holder only. you and your wife need not to be present at that time.

The same procedure to be followed for POA in favour of your mother also.
