Police verification in psu

Dear sir,

One of my friend was selected in Executive cadre as as management Trainee in PSU  and after completion of one year as probation period he was regularized and designated as Asst. Manager in the same PSU.

His permanent Address and Present address (where is father, mother and brother was residing) was different and he correctly mentioned the both adress at suitable places except in police verification which was asked by that PSU to be filled up by the employee.

In police verification form there was column of Permanent address but since no one was residing at his permanent address  so he has filled up his present addrees (Where his parents were residing from last 10 years).
he was confused since no one was residing at permanent address so he approch the HR and they adviced them to fill up the Present address(Where his parents were residing from last 10 years). He had not any dishonest interest regarding address since he has  mentioned both address at suitable column wherever required ?

Can company put any penalty or disciplinary action on him on this basis ?

What is the very purpose of police verification for PSU ?

Normally the details of Staff of any company can be retrieved by police. This is made compulsory under Sec-144 of CRPC and its violation amounts to registration of cognizable offence under Sec 188 of IPC.

What is the problem now?, whether the company is alleging that you have furnished false information about your personal details? Have they issued any notice, if so, read the contents and explain the reason with valid documents.  There is nothing to worry about it when you are not at fault.
