Procedure for Change of Name: As per the G.O. (P) No. 483, GA (General C), 8 December, 1977 by Andhra Pradesh. I have applied through Annexure-I requesting Executive Magistrate / Tahsildar (MRO) to issue Annexure - II (Confirming that the applicant is Citizen of India) to change my name and spelling correction in surname. But my Executive Magistrate / MRO says that she will give Annexure-II only for name change not for spelling correction in the Surname, she says that she has no right to give Annexure-II to correct the spelling in the surname. Is it true that Executive Magistrate do not have powers to issue Annexure-II for spelling correction in the Surname. If so, what is the documentary evidence? Kindly help me to figure it out.
