The Supreme Court of India in the Course of a Judgement made an observation that, Trial by media has becom a menace to the Society as a whole and has a negative inflence on Indipendence of Judiciary. Against this backdrop the parliament enacted The Media regulation Act, 2012. the act provides for restraint on media reporting. Section 7 of the Act authorises the regulation officer appointed under the Act to ban thepublication of any news item in the interest of the genaral public. Shreeram, a public spirited individual challenges the Act as violated of his right to know and other fundamental rights.
