Procedures to divide my father property

Hello Sir/Madam

I'm a 28 yr old son to my father. my father passed away this year and has two wives and i'm a son of his second wife. he owns a land in our city 30/40 which is properly registered in his name though in initial stages we faced some dispute where the landowner sold the land to another man also but we filed a case and we won the land. Now my dad's first wife i.e. my step mother and two sons and we're two children to my mother wanted to divide the land between us. So i wanted to know how to do it and what all the procedures please help.

If you are in good terms, you can relinquish your rights over the property and get monetary consideration, if not u can file suit for partition. I advice the former one.

The legally recognised wife, and children of a deceased person are entitled to get equal shares on the deceased's property as per Hindu Law. Therefore, you and  your brother/sister can get the share along with your step mother (1st wife of deceased) and her children.
