Property dispute b/w brothers

My Grandmother gave one house to my Uncle who took the house in his own name & one to my father.

She used to live with us but the house was in name of my Grandmother. We don't have any will.

She died in 1996, 17 years ago. On her death, uncle started to demand his share in our house. We gave him half the value of the house & the matter was resolved. He signed a Relinqusihment Deed which wasn't registered.

Now we have constructed a flat on the house. Now after 17 years he is asking his share again saying he didn't got the right value of the property.

What kind of remedy we have ?

1. Can a person ask for Inheritence of property after 17 years ?

2. What is the value of Unregistered Relinquishment Deed in the eyes of court ?

3. We also have a hand written note by him saying that he got the share. Will it stand in Court ?

Looking for an immediate reply. We are under huge mental trauma due to this dispute & unscrupulous act by uncle.

dear querist,

as per your descripttion, yes any person can demand his right in his inherited property but if you had made some documents and agreements that time ,get them registered and they are equally valid as unregistered but it gets hard to proove the authenticity of unregistered documents, feel free to call on profile number if you had left any doubt
